Film and television music consists of production music, incidental music, film scores, etc. Together these are universally known as the soundtrack when referring to the music used in a movie or television show, or to the album sold contain the music to it. In some cases, the music is recorded solely for the film or album, while at other times, the soundtrack album will contain portions of the score, and music composed for dramatic effect in relation to the movie's plot. Video game music is the soundtrack or background music accompanying video games. At first, these were limited to simple melodies by early piano keyboard synthesizer technology, however, it has now grown to include the same broadness and intricacy associated with movie and television soundtracks. While some games still make use of a simple keyboard synthesizer, video game music now also consists of full orchestral pieces and licensed popular music.
