Patrick Wayne Swayze was a Golden-Globe nominated American actor, as well as a singer-songwriter, and dancer, who died of pancreatic cancer in September of 2009. Having gained fame with appearances in films during the 1980s, Swayze became popular for playing tough guys and romantic lead males, gaining him a wide fan base with female audiences, and status as a teen idol and sex symbol. Inspired by his relationship with his wife, Lisa, Swayze and co-writer Stacy Widelitz penned the song "She's Like the Wind" for the soundtrack of the massive box office hit Dirty Dancing. It proved to be a popular song as it peaked at No. 3 on the Billboard Hot 100. Swayze also wrote and/or performed songs for several of his other movies' soundtracks such as “Brothers†for Next Of Kin, "Raising Heaven (In Hell Tonight)" and "Cliff’s Edge" for Road House, and "When You Dance" and "Finding My Way Back" for One Last Dance.
