"Alouette, gentille alouette, alouette, je te plumerai." The French folk song "Alouette" (the lyrics are about plucking the feathers from a lark) became known worldwide when American soldiers learned it during World War I, and brought the catchy melody back home. It's one of the most famous traditional French songs, alongside "Frere Jacques".
