Zez Confrey was born in Illinois in 1895. Aspiring to become a concert performer, he attended a musical school and studied with teachers, learning how to play the piano. He ended up becoming a pianist after WWI and composed a popular song called "Kitten on the Keys" (as if you couldn't see those photos enough on the internet). This song title was actually inspired by a trip he took to his grandmother's when he heard a cat walking on the piano, making hush, sweet melodies of erraticness.
